Difference between encryption and password protection

Password protection is the use of passwords to protect online accounts from hackers and cyber criminals so that sensitive data cannot be misused. Password protection ensures that only authorized users can access the information they need.

Encryption uses algorithms and keys to encrypt or hide sensitive information and data, providing a higher level of protection than passwords. Whether you share your device with other users or send files online, you can protect your data by password-protecting all documents. Nowadays, more and more people forget about the most basic Windows features, such as the ability to set passwords for individual files and folders.

For example, if you want to prevent children from opening less important documents or information, you can protect them with a secure password consisting of random characters that they can never guess.

On the other hand, for important data, the loss of which could have a negative impact on virtual security, password encryption is recommended. As explained earlier, the main risk of password protection is that hackers interested in your data will find a way to access it without a password or find other ways to get in.

Both methods are considered very secure, but they have the disadvantage that users can forget their passwords. In such cases, files can be lost even though the user has locked them for protection.
